After the first round, contestant Ashley left the game and retired accountant Grant was left to take on Lee from Yorkshire.

But the 64-year-old had a two grand lead on Lee making him hard to catch.

Lee eventually left the show leaving the Scot to take on the final and hopefully the £10k.

Grant smashed the round getting the jackpot with only six counters.

And he got emotional after his win leaving host Ben Shepherd on the verge of tears.

He said: “I feel very emotional… it’s wonderful, it’s absolutely fantastic.”

Grant said he planned on using his money to buy himself a new car and told Ben he was heading to the local car showroom following the show.

And fans at home were absolutely delighted for Grant with many taking to Twitter to congratulate the quiz supremo.

One viewer said: “What a last four drops for Grant!

“Well deserved.”

Another said: “Humbling lovely man!

“Well done Grant.”

One more tweeted: “Ah he so deserved that- genuinely happy (and shocked).”

And another viewer noticed the emotional host saying: “Ben Shepherd that was a lovely outcome – could see you were emotional too.”

The quiz enthusiast has already tried his hand on BBC’s Eggheads and ‘Think Tank’ but admitted it hadn’t gone as well as his Tipping Point appearance.
